The LARS Holidays of Hope Program (HOH) is our combined holiday and end-of-year community and client engagement program. It comprises multiple projects, initiatives and opportunities for the community to provide our clients with food, gifts, hope and love. HOH consists of three traditional holiday projects: our November food drive and distribution, our December food drive and distribution, and the toy-giving program for our client’s children.
Who can participate?
Anyone with a heart to give is welcome to participate in the LARS Holidays of Hope Program.
How can I be a part of it?
Individuals, organizations, businesses and places of worship can participate in various ways, such as donating food, holding a food drive, buying toys or volunteering. To get started, register and let us know what you are interested in doing. And if you have an idea, let us know that, too!
November and December Food Drives and Distributions
LARS will provide more than 500 families with traditional Thanksgiving dinner baskets and, three weeks later, distribute another 500 Christmas dinner baskets. A local church supplies the frozen meats and fresh produce for Thanksgiving; we need you to provide the traditional side dishes: mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, canned vegetables and dessert: brownie mix, cookie dough or cake mix and frosting. For Christmas dinner, we need the same sides and the meat.
If your organization (place of worship, business, social club or school) would like to host a food drive, email [email protected].
LARS Toy-giving Program
LARS will provide close to 500 families, with approximately 800 children, toys and gift cards to ensure their families have a joyous holiday.
First, thank you to our returning toy and gift donors for adopting families over the years. You purchased toys, household goods and appliances for families, which they appreciated. However, the adopt-a-family program is no longer. Second, we have revamped the program to provide smiles and joy to more children. This new format will be easier (and far less stressful) for donors and clients. This year, we are hosting the LARS Winter Wonderland!
It’s simple: instead of buying gifts for an entire family, we’re asking you for the following:
To donate gift cards, go to RaiseRight. LARS earns rebates on gift cards purchased there.
If your organization (place of worship, business, social club or school) would like to host a toy drive, email [email protected].
