Volunteer  Opportunities

 

LARS is in need of volunteers to perform office work, help in the food pantry, work with clients on Family Support Teams, assist clients to develop computer skills,  facilitate workshops, and more.  All volunteers must sign a confidentiality agreement and some volunteers my be required to pass a criminal background check.

Help Coordinate Holiday Program

Volunteer  are needed to give 2 -3 hours per week from mid-October through mid-December to help coordinate the Holiday Program. LARS is setting up a voice mailbox to handle inquires about the holiday program, from both potential donors and  clients. The volunteer would need to check for messages and mail out information  to facilitate the donation process.

Office Assistant (Reception & Phone Duty)

Purpose:  This position exists to help ease the flow of requests. Individuals in this position will answer telephones and provide general information regarding the  services offered by LARS.
Span of Influence: This person(s) will directly interact with LARS clients, LARS staff and volunteers as well as the  general public to help schedule appointments, take phone messages, assist with  light filing, and copying.
Time Commitment: This is a flexible  position. Coverage is needed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Holiday  Giving Coordinator

Purpose: To organize the food and gift donations and to coordinate their distribution  during the holiday season. 
Span of Influence: This person(s) will directly interact with staff, volunteers and members of the community
Time Commitment: Schedule is completely flexible.


Pantry Assistant

Purpose: To help maintain LARS food pantry.
Span of Influence: This person will work directly with Office Manager and Case Workers to organize pantry items  and monitor the freezer and refrigerator as well as assist with bagging and distributing groceries. There are also opportunities for picking up food donations and bread from local grocery stores.
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week is ideal but this position is flexible. Volunteers interested in  food pickup are needed on Tuesday and/or Friday mornings for approximately 2-3  hours. Average distance from LARS for food pickup is 5-8 miles round trip.

LARS is frequently in need of bonded and insured plumbers, electricians, and painters to complete various maintenance projects. Time  commitment varies depending on the need.
