How you can Help

There are lots of ways to help:

  • Attend the Annual Silent Auction & Dinner or donate items for the silent auction.

  • Participate in the holiday program. “Adopt a Family" for the holidays.

  • Donate nonperishable food items to the LARS food pantry. Most needed are foods that take little preparation: canned beef stew, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, tuna, soups/stews, cereal, canned spaghetti, canned ravioli, canned meat, and canned fruits and vegetables. Paper products, diapers, baby formula, and baby food are also needed.

  • Donate grocery gift certificates.

  • Donate Connect-A-Ride bus passes for transportation around the Laurel area.

  • Participate in the Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walk and designate LARS as the organization.

  • Sponsor walkers in the Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walk.

  • Organize a canned food drive at your church or work place to benefit LARS clients.

  • Volunteer to answer the telephone in the office, especially during the non-peak hour.

  • Serve as a member of a Family Support Team.

  • Make a direct financial contribution to LARS, which is a 501(c)3 private nonprofit organization.

  • Make a financial contribution to LARS through the United Way, Combined Federal Campaign or Local Independent Charities.

  • Include LARS in your estate planning.

  • Serve as a member of the LARS Board of Directors either as a primary or alternate representative.

  • Serve as a member of a LARS standing committee (Client Planning/Facilities, Fundraising/Public Relations, Volunteers).

  • Organize a school supplies drive at your church or work place to benefit the children of LARS clients.

  • Donate copy paper, stamps, or other office supplies to help LARS stretch its office budget.

  • Make a financial contribution through your local church.

  • Volunteer to serve as an on-call language translator; Spanish and sign-language interpreters are especially needed.

  • Ask your friends and family to make a donation on your behalf in lieu of a birthday or holiday gift.
